“Complementary and alternative treatments can offer
cancer patients relief and support that orthodox medicine
cannot always deliver. They help to comfort patients
when they need it most, and are often able to give a
patient the support that the more conventional treatments
lack. Individually or in combination with orthodox medicinal
practices alternative therapies can make a real difference
to the treatment and recovery of cancer patients. When
suffering from cancer, patients must be able to make
informed decisions about their care and Self-Help Cancer
assists in giving guidance and advice to cancer patients
who are considering using non-orthodox treatments. I
am supportive towards this work because although cancer
takes away patients' health and lives, it should not
steal their dignity or their right to choose their own
treatment.”
